Installing Redbeam Asset Tracking on a Windows 7 or Vista Operating System

If you are having trouble opening Redbeam, please follow the below instructions

There are several things to keep in mind before you install Redbeam software:

 

Step 1:

You must be logged in as a Local Windows Admin (Not a debugger user Admin) on the machine you are installing it on.

 

 

You can look at your user account to check if it says admin next to your account. If you are not an admin user you should ask your IT department if they can give you access

Step 2:

If you have a windows Vista or Windows 7 machine, you must disable the UAC. This will reboot your machine.

 

 

If you have a Windows Vista or 7 machine you must disable the UAC. This will reboot your machine.

 

Step 3:

Disable all firewalls.

 

 

Note: If you click your start button and type services.msc into your run bar (Windows XP) or start search bar (Windows Vista/7), you can see what firewalls are running and can stop and disable them.

 

Step 4:

Turn off all anti-virus applications. If you type services.msc into your run bar you can see what anti-viruses are running

 

Step 5:

Check the Programs folder. If redbeam is installed, uninstall then re-install the application 

 

Step 6:

Verify that your computer uses Microsoft, XP, 2003, Vista or Windows 7 

 

Step 7:

Place the CD in the CD Rom Drive and access the CD ROM folder

 

Step 8:

Open and view or print the User Manual. Redbeam recommends reading the user manual before installing the software

 

Step 9:

Double click on the Setup Icon. Follow the instructions to install the software 

 
Installing Redbeam

Step1011:

Creating Redbeam Database from seed.exe  
Step 1: Access through computer > C: > Program Files > (Asset Tracking, Inventory Control or Check In Check Out)   
Step 2: Double Click on Seed from your program files if you have RBAT, it will be listed as RBAT53seed.exe  
Step 3:
ll
List the correct server (servername/ Instance) and type the database as main if you have Redbeam Inventory Tracking or Redbeam Check In Check Out. If you have Redbeam Asset Tracking ; Then name the Database RBAT  
Step 4: Make Sure SQL Configuration Manager has the samer components enabled for your application

Manual Installation of SQL for RBAT (Redbeam Asset Tracking)

 

 

 

Step 1:

Go to the following  web address: THis will take you through a manual install of SQL express for 32 or 64 bit machines http://www.microsoft.com/Sqlserver/2005/en/us/expressdown.aspx#SP3

 

 

 

 

Step 2:

Click Run

 

Step 3:

Read and accept the licensing terms of Microsoft and click next

 

Step 4: 

Click install to continue

 

Step 5:

After Microsoft SQL native client and the setup files install click next

 

Step 6: 

"Welcome to the Microsoft SQl Server Installation Wizard" - CLICK NEXT

 

 

 

 

Step 7: 

Click Next

 

 

 

 

Step 8:

Enter your name and company name and check "off" - Hide advanced configuration options. These will be accessed later on - CLICK NEXT

 

 

 

 

Step 9: 

Click Next

 

 

 

 

Step 10:

The named instance depends on the following: If you have Redbeam Asset Tracking your instance=RBAT. If you have Redbeam Inventory Tracking your Instance=RIT. If you have Redbeam Checkin/Checkout your named instance will be RCO. 

 

 

 

 

Step 11:

Change your built in System  Account settings to Local System. Check each SQL service at the end of setup box and click Next

 

 

 

 

Step 12:

Change Authentication mode to Mixed and change the 'sa' logon password to 34TJ4@#$. If military or corporation that uses password policy requirements, change password to meet policy requirements. CLICK NEXT

 

 

 

 

Step 13:

Leave the collation settings to default with SQL collations selected then CLICK NEXT

 

 

 

 

Step 14:

Choose enable user instances and check A dd user to the SQL Server Administrator role - CLICK NEXT

 

Step 15:

CLICK NEXT 

 

Step 16:

Click Install 

 

 

 

 

Step 17:

After completion of the SQL setup files. NOTE: not all computers will have this many components. CLICK NEXT 

 

Step 18:

Click Finish

Begin the install of the application 

 

 

Note: If the SQL portion of the install fails you can continue with the install of the application since you already installed SQL. If the application gives you errors, please proceed to installtion steps below for directions for creating seed.exe
